Apps and tools I use
I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I'm being productive when I'm really just procrastinating. Here's a big list of all of my favorite stuff.
Workstation
13” MacBook Air, M1, 16GB/512GB
I am a fan of Windows but MacOS is still the best operating system for software development. I've been using the M1 MacBook Air since it came out and it's been a great machine.
LG 4K Monitor - UL550
I've been using this monitor for a few years now and it's been great. I'm not a huge fan of the built-in speakers but the display is great.
Keychron K2 V2 - Hotswappable
I've been using this keyboard for a few months now and I really like it. I've been using the Gateron Brown switches and they feel great.
Logitech MX Master 2S
I usually just use the trackpad but when I need to do some serious work, this is my mouse of choice.
Development tools
VS Code
I've tried to switch to other editors but I always end up coming back to VS Code.
Warp
Warp is a good terminal replacement for MacOS. I always used the iTerm2 but I like the workflow of Warp. I run it with a fish or zsh.
Design
Figma
Goto tool for all things design.
Productivity
Notion
For all of my notes, tasks.
Linear
For issue tracking and project management.
Cron
Super simple and clean calendar app.
Paste
Best clipboard manager I've used on Mac.
Raycast
I use this to launch apps, run scripts, and do a bunch of other stuff.
Shottr
Free screenshot tool for MacOS.
Rectangle
Open source window management tool for MacOS.
